And Your Boxed Wine Winner Is.......

So, you've decided to save money on wine in order to save up on shoes??

That means you have found yourself perusing the wine section with a crumpled $20 bill, trying to find wine within your budget.

Just your luck - I tested out the top three box wines, and sat with an expert wine critic to find THE best box wine.

I choose these three to test:

Blind tasting for Naked Grape, Bota Box and Black Box.

And the winner is....the Naked Grape box wine.

By far, this wine was our favorite of the bunch. Light and crisp, and great for summertime, there is aromas of pear and meyer lemon.

It retails for $24, and comes in a handy 3 Liter box. The best thing about this box wine is that you can keep it in your fridge after opening, and it lasts for four weeks after opening.

So, save your money for shoes, and still enjoy a great glass of white wine this summer.

Shoes OR Wine (Yes, that's OR not AND)

Picking shoes OR wine. That's right....I said OR and not AND.

WHY??? Seriously...why would I ever make someone pick between two of my favorite things in the world. Well, sometimes, you must.

I can remember one of my first jobs out of college - making little money but still having a desire for nice shoes and wine (my mom called this champagne taste on a beer budget).

So, with a tight budget, I had to early on learn how to prioritize my spending - and I was not about to give up either shoes or wine. A difficult predicament surfaced.

So you choose. Can you accept box wine for Brian Atwood's? Or Payless for Petrus Bordeaux?

To answer this question, I have enlisted two experts in wine and shoe field. In an upcoming post, I interview 2 people with equally strong loves for shoes and wine. They answer the pressing question...shoes OR wine.

Namaste in Style

Namaste. You, getting your zen on in style.

As yoga becomes more and more popular (think hot, fusion, flow, ashtanga, ariel) - you have probably tried it out once, or at least been curious about what yoga has to offer.

But you may be asking yourself, how do I namaste in style?? You could watch the hilarious yoga girl video here, or check out the links below.

Lucky for you I have scoured the web and several yoga studios to find what the hottest styles are this summer. If you are new to yoga and don't want to make the big investment in clothing, don't fret. Target has a whole line (C9 by Champion) that are a steal.

Until next time, namaste.

Stems and Stilettos - Jimmy Choos and the Blue Medusa

Just in time for the 4th of July, our guest editor Veronica Shah brings you another installment of stilettos and stems. Because…what’s better than an amazing cocktail and high heels??

Guest Blog - Veronica Shah
There is a wonderful historic hotel in Scottsdale called the Valley Ho.
Restored to its mid-century glory, my family loves staying there.  A feature my older son cannot get enough of is the blue-green spotlight that shines down on the bathtub in each of the rooms.
My husband and I lucked into a couple nights away during the holidays one year and we spent them at the Valley Ho.  The blue light over the bathtub must have been inspiring – I got these metallic turquoise Jimmy Choos on that trip.
The Blue Medusa Cocktail is perfect for sipping while wearing my lovely turquoise stilettos.  As I am writing this it occurs to me that I’ve never sipped this cocktail in the bathtub while wearing those Jimmy Choos.

Well, never say never.

Served with:

Blue Medusa
½ oz lime juice
Twist of lemon
Pour first 4 ingredients over ice in Boston Shaker.  Shake vigorously.  Strain into rimmed coupe.  Add twist.
